Abstract
Research Capacity Building for Development may be defined as the
planned improvement of the capacity and competency of the Higher Education sector to conduct
research that contributes to the alleviation of poverty. The IAP focus on Research Capacity Building is
driven by recognition of the potential of the higher education and research sectors to contribute to
achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
